Easy ways to boost your child's fibre!

Our resident Children’s Dietitian, Lucy Upton has rounded up some of the best fibre-rich foods for your little ones that can be easily added to any meals.

With 90% of kids in the UK not getting enough fibre in their diets, we’re here to help you make a difference! Adding more fibre to their meals is actually really easy with some simple meal additions – here are some easy and delicious ways to sneak a little extra fibre into their daily routine! 👇

Super seeds

💪 Super Seeds – Small but Mighty!

Seeds like chia, sunflower, and poppy are tiny, but they’re packed with fibre! Just sprinkle them on top of breakfast cereals, stir them into porridge, or mix them into a pasta bake. They’re practically invisible, but they bring a mighty boost of fibre to the meal.

🥦 Fruit and Vegetables – Squeeze in More Goodness

Kids aren’t getting enough fibre from fruit and vegetables. Try adding an extra serving here and there – it’s easier than you might think. Grate carrots or courgettes into pasta sauces, toss spinach into a stew, or blend some veggies into a curry. These small tweaks add fibre without changing the meal’s taste, so your little ones won’t even notice!

🫘 Beans and Pulses – Affordable and Versatile

Beans and pulses are great for fibre and come in so many forms! Add a tin of lentils to your bolognese, blend white beans into pasta sauces, or use hummus as a spread in sandwiches. They’re super versatile, affordable, and easily adaptable to your favourite family recipes.

With these easy additions, boosting your kid’s fibre intake has never been so simple – or so tasty! Check out Lucy's reel over on Instagram and let us know how you get on too in the comments below!
